Dan Bligh
Dan joined Scrutton Bland Ltd in 2004 as a Commercial Account Handler, which involved dealing with all aspects of existing business. He is now a Commercial Account Executive, running a portfolio of business and also handles new business enquiries, including commercial combined, fleet, liability, property, engineering and various other areas of insurance. Meeting with clients is not always essential, but detailed discussions are absolutely necessary in order to provide insurance policies, which accurately reflects their business. Dan's knowledge of the market and professional approach ensures competitive terms with established insurers.

Grant Buchanan
Grant is an Independent Financial Adviser within Scrutton Bland Ltd. He started his career with Friends Provident in their London office then worked as a Financial Adviser locally before joining Scrutton Bland in early 2008. Grant holds the Financial Planning Certificate and the Diploma in Financial Planning. He studied G60, which allows him to advise on all aspects of pension planning, both pre and post retirement. Further study into Investment principles markets and environments (J06) and Taxation & Trusts (G10) ensure Grant is suitably qualified to advise on lump sum investments for both private individuals and Trustees.

Janice Bush
Janice is a Business Services Group Manager based in our Colchester Office. She originally trained in the Ipswich Office and following qualification in 1985 has dealt with a varied portfolio. Janice moved to the Colchester Office in 1999 and now specialises in agriculture and family run businesses. She also has good experience of new business start ups.

Sally Davies
Sally is a manager in the Corporate Services Department in the Ipswich office. She qualified with a practice based in Camberley, then moved to a big four firm in Reading before joining Scrutton Bland in 2006. Her role is primarily the management of audits for corporate clients ranging from small local owner-managed businesses to multinational groups. Sally has experience across a range of business sectors including freight forwarding, warehousing, storage and distribution, manufacturing and retail, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and utilities.

Graham Doubtfire
Graham joined Scrutton Bland in 2008 as a Senior Tax Manager in the tax department. Graham has brought to the firm extensive experience in dealing with the tax affairs of high net worth individuals and their families. This wealth of knowledge will be used to assist clients with mitigating their exposure to income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. Graham is particularly keen to work with Scrutton Bland clients and the in-house financial services team to assist with the planning that can be undertaken to mitigate the liability to tax for the clients I will be looking after. The interaction with the financial services team is extremely useful and compliments tax planning advice to work together to provide an integrated planning service. Prior to working with Scrutton Bland, Graham worked for Bird Luckin and was also part of a team delivering tax planning advice to farming clients including inheritance tax planning and smoothing the tax impact on fluctuating profits in the farming industry and is keen to use this experience to help our clients. Graham qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 and as a Chartered Tax Adviser in 2000. He will be working at both Colchester and Ipswich offices of Scrutton Bland.

Paul Goddard
Paul joined Scrutton Bland in 2001, having previously worked for a national firm of accountants and in local government. He is a manager based in our Internal Audit Department, and deals largely with our portfolio of Internal Audit contracts. Paul has particular experience of managing public sector clients and specifically those within the education sector. Paul works closely with his clients to help them embed risk management into their organisations.

Jo Gilbert
Jo qualified with a mid-tier national firm and joined Scrutton Bland in May 2003 following a brief spell in commerce. Jo is a business services manager based in the Ipswich Office specialising in small owner managed businesses, including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies and provides accounts and tax compliance work on a timely and pro-active basis. She is able to advise on accounting software packages and assists clients with the problems they encounter in day to day record keeping. Two other specialist sectors where Jo has experience is working with smaller charities and on Solicitors' Accounts Rules assignments.

Angela Griggs
Angela joined Scrutton Bland as a qualified audit senior in November 2004, after training and qualifying as a chartered accountant with a London based firm. Jason Harden
Jason joined Scrutton Bland in January 2005, previously a Director of his own Insurance Brokerage of 15 years where he gained extensive experience on all aspects of insurance. Jason is now an account executive in our commercial business department specializing in all types of commercial insurances especially Property Owner Portfolio's, Manufacturing, Fleets and Liability. Michael Kernan
Michael qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the firm in 1976 and subsequently spent three years with another firm to gain post-qualification experience. Sue Newton
Sue is one of our Tax Managers at Colchester. She originally trained with a London based accountancy firm. In 1968 she joined Bland Fielden (as was) in Colchester. One of Sue’s great strengths is her continuity of service and historical knowledge. She specialises in Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Estates and Trusts, including family partnerships and other businesses. She is our main link to the User Group in London covering the computer software used to prepare Tax Returns for our clients – until recently she was Secretary to the User Group for 9 years.

Julia Norman
Julia is an assistant manager based in the Ipswich Corporate services department. She joined the firm in 2000 specialising in pension scheme accounts, small charities, and more recently solicitors, where she deals with Limited Liability Partnership accounts as well as work under the Solicitors' Accounts Rules. David Pickess
David joined the Colchester Office in July 1996 and completed his professional qualifications during 2002. During his time with Scrutton Bland, David has developed a wide range of skills in general practice and is now a Corporate Services Manager. In this role, he is responsible for managing a varied client base, which although primarily audit based, also includes audit exempt clients and a number of the firm's professional partnership clients. The clients for whom David manages vary in size from the relatively small to the very large and include one of Scrutton Bland's Higher Education clients. Gary Pracy PFS
Gary is an Independent Financial Adviser within Scrutton Bland Ltd and has more than 22 years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining Scrutton Bland Ltd, Gary worked as an Independent Financial Adviser with a local firm of Accountants.
Gary has completed the Financial Planning Certificate and the Diploma in Financial Planning and he is currently taking some final examination papers towards his Chartered Financial Planner target qualification. Gary works out of the Colchester office and specialises in pensions pre and post retirement and is a regulated pension transfer specialist and therefore able to advise on an unlimited product range. Other areas of advice include investment planning for personal investors and Trustees of Trusts, Inheritance Tax planning and also some work in pensions and divorce. Teresa Sharman
Teresa joined Scrutton Bland in 2006, having previously worked for a large national firm of accountants and auditors, and prior to this for a large housing group in East Anglia. Teresa has been an auditor for ten years and is one of our Internal Audit Managers. Teresa manages half of our portfolio of Internal Audit contracts and has auditing experience in a number of public sector areas; education, central government, health, housing and emergency services. Trained in Risk Based Internal Auditing techniques, Teresa has expertise in assisting clients to identify and develop their level of risk maturity.

Mark Smith
Mark joined Scrutton Bland in August 2007 as a Senior Manager within the Corporate Services Department. Mark manages a number of audit clients, which include large family owned businesses as well as public sector organizations. Ted Warren
Ted join Scrutton Bland (then Nankivell & Sanderson) in September 1967 and is our longest serving member of staff. As a manager in the Ipswich Business Services Department Ted has a varied portfolio of clients with a significant emphasis towards farming businesses. His long standing association with Scrutton Bland and the close relationship developed with his clients now sees Ted dealing with the third generation of some of his Partnership Clients.
