HMRC Enquiries

HMRC have had a number of “campaigns” over recent years to try and persuade taxpayers to come forward and declare any undeclared income without fear of prosecution. The campaigns have targeted certain industries, such as plumbers, electricians, tutors and coaches. The current campaign that HMRC are running is focused on asking direct sellers to come forward and disclose any undeclared earnings. The current campaign runs until February next year, after which time it is expected that HMRC will use information and intelligence that they have obtained to target those sellers that have not made a disclosure.

Non Residency- The planned new rules with should take effect from 6 April 2013.

The new rules which need to be adhered to when deciding whether you are resident or non-resident for tax purposes in any particular year should take effect from 6 April 2013.

Boxing Clever

Although the recent UK Chancellors have been accused of scaring off wealthy individuals and non-domiciled individuals, the same cannot be said in the corporate world as the UK continues to entice corporations to setup or stay in the UK. In addition to ongoing reductions to the main rate of Corporation Tax, HMRC have now introduced the “patent box” for companies.
