Leading financial services firm goes on recruitment drive for the regions brightest new talent

11 October 2018 - Elizabeth Nichols

On Wednesday 7 November and Thursday 8 November 2018, leading financial services firm Scrutton Bland will be hosting open days in their Ipswich and Colchester offices in a drive to attract and employ the regions brightest talent from local schools and colleges.

Over the last 3 years’ the East Anglian based firm has experienced significant business growth, expanding its workforce by 28% since 2015 and is now looking for fresh, young talent to fill an increasing number of roles across its business units.

Jason Fayers, Managing Partner at the firm said: “We have seen phenomenal growth within our business, not only in terms of the number of staff we now employ, but we have recently expanded geographically into Cambridge and are looking to make our mark in the south Essex area. In addition, we are continuing to grow the services which we offer such as employee benefits and corporate finance and are driving our online, cloud based solutions –so, we need more people to join our team to help us deliver it all".

Whilst the firm has run a graduate intake programme for some time, it also recognises that university is not for everyone and sees a valuable talent pool in those students leaving higher education after A-levels. The firm recruits several A level leavers every year and is looking to attract the best talent for the 2019 intake.

“We have had a number of success stories within our organisation where young people have joined us on trainee or apprenticeship schemes and are now forging ahead with their professional careers’ said Debbie Petrie, HR Manager at Scrutton Bland, “we know that university is not for everyone, and that some young people are ready to start work whilst they study for professional exams. ‘earning while you learn’ can be a great way to both get a foot on the career ladder and work toward professional qualifications. If anyone is unsure of what they want to do next after A levels, I would recommend they come along to our events like our open days and take a look at the options available”.

The Scrutton Bland open days will run on 7 November in their Ipswich office and 8 November in Colchester. Students will have to chance to look around a working office, hear about what a career in the financial services sector can offer and speak to past trainees to find out at first-hand how starting work after A levels can be the first step in building a professional career.

If you are currently studying and due to finish your A Levels next year, or are a tutor or lecturer and think that you have students who could benefit from attending, you can register your interest in this event by email to HR. Places must be booked in advance.
