Scrutton Bland builds on their agricultural sector expertise with the appointment of a new director

25 August 2021 - Elizabeth Nichols

Scrutton Bland has boosted their Business Advisory team with the appointment of Jack Deal as Director. Jack joins Scrutton Bland from a national firm and brings a broad range of expertise to the Ipswich-based business.

Jack specialises in advising privately-owned businesses, in particular those in the agricultural and rural sector. With deep local roots and a background in business, accounting and tax advice, Jack considers himself well placed to work closely with the owners and managers of businesses across East Anglia.

“My experience has given me a great insight into the things that matter to business owners” says Jack. “There are many exciting opportunities, as well as plenty of challenges across the east, and business owners are looking for their accountants to be proactive and strategic in their advice, whilst also providing more traditional services. I’m excited to work with Scrutton Bland’s experts in specialist areas such as digital accounting and systems advisory, insurance and corporate finance, to help our clients thrive.”

Jack came to the attention of the press earlier this year when he and his wife Molly undertook a marathon cycle ride on static bikes, riding ‘virtually’ from their home near Bury St Edmunds to Bury’s twin town of Compiegne and back – a distance of over 1000km. Their epic ride raised over £7,000 for the My WiSH charity and was made after they endured the loss of their baby girl through late miscarriage. “We had a really tough experience and were humbled by the support we received from friends, family and the wider community. I’m delighted that Scrutton Bland shares my enthusiasm for working amongst our community, giving back where we can and making a difference both in our professional and personal lives.”

Scrutton Bland’s Business Advisory team is based across their Ipswich, Colchester, Cambridge and Diss offices, and Jack will be focusing on clients in the west of East Anglia. “Scrutton Bland has a tremendous reputation and many long-standing relationships in the agricultural sector, and I want to bring that to the attention of businesses in the West of the region.”

Jason Fayers, Scrutton Bland’s Managing Partner commented: “This appointment is very exciting – our Business Advisory team has developed and grown in recent years and Jack’s appointment shows our commitment to growth across the region.”

Nick Banks, Business Advisory Partner at Scrutton Bland added: “Jack’s knowledge and experience makes him an important addition to the team and will benefit clients particularly in the west of our region. I know that he has an excellent record of delivering targeted advice in a way which is both thoughtful and practical. I am delighted that he has joined Scrutton Bland.”
