Christen Wood

Christen says that she always wanted to be a PE teacher but fell into accountancy when working part time in the office of a local garden centre who offered to put her through her first accounting qualifications. Having then started on her ACCA qualification journey she then took a six-year career gap to travel the world with her sister, visiting places like Thailand, Malaysia, Fiji and Hong Kong. She says the experience enabled her to understand the cultures and lifestyles of people from other countries and has helped her to empathise and bring out the best in people when working with clients. Christen joined Scrutton Bland in 2016 and initially worked in the agriculture team, but now works across the board on corporate and personal tax returns, as well as company formation and share transfer work.

Outside of the office Christen loves to spend time with her family, keeping fit and playing sports. She also recently completed the Colchester half marathon and is one of our mental health first aiders, and in case this all sounds too virtuous, she says “I love the pub and I love to talk!”.
