Speaking about the sale, Sam said:
“We’ve all heard of “accidental landlords” where people inherit property, well Durnbury’s shareholders became “accidental business owners”, when they inherited the business from their father. They had not previously been involved in the day-to-day running of the business (or any business) and had certainly never had to sell a company, so it was a very steep learning curve for them at a difficult time. We carefully guided them through each stage of the process, translating technical and regulatory issues into practical advice and it was very rewarding to see the sale completed successfully and know that the future of this family business and its employees had been safeguarded. A great reminder that not all business sales are about making money.”
Julia Metson from Durnbury Ltd said
“A huge “thank you” to both Scrutton Bland and Sumer Law for helping us successfully complete the sale of our family business at a difficult time. Mark Smith, Samantha Stent, Shaun Little and Patrick Wilkinson all worked tirelessly to get the job done. They were a pleasure to deal with and explained the process to us at every stage. They showed great patience and perseverance negotiating on our behalf and I would definitely recommend this team to anyone else needing to sell a business.”
