Kate Cowell

Associate Tax Adviser

Kate specialises in dealing with the tax affairs of high-net-worth individuals and their families. Including Personal Tax returns and advice, Capital Gains Tax returns and Trust and Estates compliance

Kate started her career in accountancy before moving to the personal tax team at a major high street bank in 2010. She joined Scrutton Bland in 2018 and works within the Private Client team based at our Colchester office.

Warm, friendly and empathetic, Kate specialises in simplifying the intricacies of personal taxes. By building close relationships with clients, she walks families and individuals through the process, clearly discussing what can often be complex topics to make sure clients understand their obligations and feel at ease. Outside of work she enjoys long walks in the countryside, crafting and home improvements.

She runs regularly – although not necessarily because she likes it! And she was proud to represent Scrutton Bland in the Dragon Boat Race team in 2024 and the Colchester Half Marathon in 2025.
