For more than a century, Scrutton Bland has grown from two post‑war start‑ups into one of the region’s most respected professional services groups. Our story began in 1919, when Alfred Scrutton and Francis Goodchild established their firm in Ipswich, and Bland Fielden opened its doors in Colchester the very same year, both created to meet the financial needs of people rebuilding their lives after the First World War.
Over the decades that followed, these independent practices evolved, expanded and eventually came together, forming the foundation of the modern Scrutton Bland Group. Today, our long history of mergers, innovation and client‑focused service continues to shape who we are and how we support businesses and individuals across the region, now as part of the Sumer group.
